Oman — celebrating a land of civilizations.
A national cultural festival needed an identity worthy of a deep, layered heritage — flexible enough to run across a city, dignified enough to represent a nation, and warm enough to draw a crowd.
The challenge
Representing a civilization spanning millennia in a single festival identity is a tension few briefs match. Lean too traditional and it feels like a museum; lean too modern and it severs the connection to heritage it is meant to celebrate.
The identity also had to perform at radically different scales — from a phone screen to a building-sized banner — across exhibitions, signage, stage, print and broadcast, while staying instantly recognisable.
And it had to speak to locals with pride and to visitors with welcome, in two languages, at once.
The approach
We grounded the identity in authentic Omani motifs — pattern, craft and architectural rhythm — then abstracted them into a flexible visual system that could expand or simplify depending on the surface.
A confident bilingual typographic pairing carried Arabic and Latin with equal authority, and a heritage-derived colour palette gave the festival a distinct, ownable presence in the city. The system was built modular from the start, so partners and sub-events could apply it consistently without diluting it.
Every element was designed to feel rooted yet alive — heritage in motion, not heritage under glass.
