AstraQua — an aerospace brand built to earn altitude.
A next-generation aerospace venture needed an identity that signalled engineering credibility to investors while carrying a human, exploratory spirit. We built the full brand system — name architecture, mark, motion and launch toolkit.
The challenge
AstraQua entered a category defined by two extremes: legacy aerospace primes that feel institutional and cold, and newer space startups that lean on borrowed sci-fi tropes. Neither read as credible and human at once — the exact position AstraQua needed to win early-stage investment and top engineering talent.
The founders arrived with breakthrough propulsion research but no coherent story, no naming system for a growing product line, and a placeholder logo that collapsed at small sizes. They needed an identity that could stand on a pitch deck, a fuselage, and a recruiting page with equal authority.
The brief was demanding: look like a company that has flown for decades, while moving like one founded last year.
The approach
We opened with a positioning sprint, aligning founders, lead engineers and early advisors on a single idea: precision in service of wonder. That phrase became the filter for every design decision that followed.
The visual language pairs an exacting, engineered grid with a luminous spectrum gradient drawn from atmospheric re-entry imagery — discipline and awe held in tension. The wordmark is built on a custom letterform with an open counter that doubles as an orbital motif, scaling cleanly from favicon to launch livery.
We designed a naming architecture so the brand can extend across vehicles, programs and research arms without diluting the parent. Every asset was stress-tested in motion, because an aerospace brand is judged on screens before it is ever seen in the sky.
The delivery
We shipped a complete, launch-ready brand system that the internal team could run with from day one — documented, flexible and built to scale alongside the company.
