What makes Rissala Design distinctive?

Basel Almisshal leads a practice that connects graphic design, architecture, storytelling and technology. His diverse international work brings attention to culture, proportion, place and experience. The scope can range from a single publication or identity to a project spanning several disciplines.

What services does Rissala offer?

Our work spans brand strategy and identity, spatial branding and environmental graphics, wayfinding and signage, exhibitions and visitor experiences, museum content and interpretation, publications and editorial design, AI graphics and design applications, and digital experiences and visual media.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. Rissala works across cultures and markets. The portfolio includes projects connected with the United States, the Middle East and Malaysia. We shape each engagement around its audience, location and delivery needs.

Is the practice focused only on Arabic or bilingual branding?

Arabic calligraphy and bilingual identity are part of our expertise. They sit within a broader creative practice. We develop the visual language that fits each project, whether its context is local, regional or international.

How are spatial branding and wayfinding different?

Spatial branding expresses the character of an organization or place through graphics, materials and environmental design. Wayfinding helps people understand a place and move through it, using visitor journeys, information hierarchies and signage. The two can be developed together.

What can you contribute to a museum or exhibition?

We develop exhibition concepts, narratives, interpretive content, graphics and visitor experiences. The scope is agreed with the institution and its subject specialists, connecting the story, its evidence and the way people encounter it in space.

Do you design publications?

Yes. We work on books, exhibition catalogues, reports and editorial systems for print and digital use. The scope can include visual direction, content structure, typography, layout and production-ready artwork.

What are AI graphics and design applications?

These engagements can include art-directed AI imagery, visual concept exploration, design applications and creative workflows. Basel leads the creative direction, with human review and refinement. Application concepts are labelled clearly so they can be distinguished from documented completed work.

Can we commission one service or a complete programme?

Both are possible. We can focus on one defined need or connect several disciplines around one brief. We agree the responsibilities, deliverables and stages before work begins.

What does a typical project cost and how long does it take?

Every engagement is scoped individually. We propose scope, phases, timing and a clear quotation after a first conversation.

How does the process start?

With a conversation about your purpose, audience and context. We then develop the brief, research and creative directions, refine the selected approach with you and prepare the agreed deliverables.

Do you take interns or work with students?

Yes. We run a mentored internship for design students working on real projects under direct studio critique. See the Careers page.
